Senator Cornelia Yzer visits BCRT
6. Juni 2013
Cornelia Yzer (Senator for Economics, Technology and Research of Berlin) visited our center on May 6, 2013. Hans-Dieter Volk, director of BCRT, welcomed Cornelia Yzer in our reception hall informing her about the center and our recent developments. Her first stop in our labs was with Christian Wischke, a biomaterial researcher and member of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht. Christian Wischke explained how biomaterials work and how they are used in Regenerative Medicine. Following Christian Wischke, Georg Duda and Tobias Winkler introduced their study on PLX cells. Having brought with them a patient they explained how these cells are given during an operation to lessen hip-operation-related damages to the muscle. Their study started in January this year, first results are to be expected at the end of the year. The last stop was with Petra Reinke, a researcher at the immunological field of BCRT. Petra Reinke explained how they use the Elispot Reader to stratify patients receving an immune therapy. We wish to thank all participants for this lively and very interesting tour!
