Launch of Talent Search at Einstein Center Regenerative Therapies (ECRT)
In order to promote new research approaches the newly created Einstein Center Regenerative Therapies (ECRT) initiated a two stage program consisting of so called Kickbox Seed Grant and Flexible Research Funds. Its aim is mainly promotion of young scientist’s innovative approaches. Approx. 20 of these fundings were brought up to competition.
The ECRT understands itself as a think tank. At Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin the already existing structure of Berlin-Brandenburg Center for Regenerative Therapies (BCRT) and Berlin-Brandenburg School for Regenerative Therapies (BSRT) are complemented and united by ECRT. Common purpose: To carry forward therapies for patients whose body’s own healing processes are affected, for example people suffering from weakness of the immune system, chronically ill and elderly people with damaged or diseased musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and immune system.
“Cure instead of treatment: Medicine’s future lies in regenerative therapies” Prof. Dr. Georg N. Duda, spokesman of ECRT, is convinced of this. “Our aim is to extend cutting-edge research in Berlin and Brandenburg by further expansion of the cooperation between university scientists and extramural scientists. This center makes joint research easier for scientists coming from different specialized backgrounds throughout basic research and clinical research.” The new center is a joint project of Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin and its parent universites together with Technischen Universität Berlin and eight non-university partners.
