Flow Cytometry & Mass Cytometry

The BCRT Flow Cytometry Lab (BCRT-FCL) offers expert service and state-of-the-art equipment for multi-parameter cell analysis (flow cytometry and mass cytometry/CyTOF) and high-speed cell sorting.

Scientific integration

The core unit BCRT-FCL is embedded in the scientific structure of the BCRT via the Research Field "Immune System" and into the group of Prof. Andreas Thiel. The close cooperation with the group of Andreas Thiel enables and promotes the joint development of new technologies and methods, which can then be made available to the users of the core unit. Together with this group new protocols are developed and tested for integration into the Core Unit.

As one major achievement of this cooperation the CyTOF2 was integrated into the Core Unit and the technology has been established so far that it can now be offered as a service to all scientists in a high-quality and reproducible manner.

BCRT-external scientists (Charite, other academic research institutions, industry) have the opportunity to use free capacities of equipment and service. This increases the utilization of equipment which not every scientific institution can hold and moreover facilitates the exchange with other scientific institutions and researchers. All project specific personnel and material resources exceeding the basic funding are covered by usage fees.

The BCRT-FCL is intergrated as a 'Shared Facility' into the core facility concept of the Charité and is supported by the faculty.
