Development of Biomarkers and Regenerative Therapies

We develop immune monitoring for regenerative therapies (Biomarker development and validation). Furthermore, we do research on immune modulation by stem and progenitor cells in vitro and in vivo. We analyze the interaction between the human immune system and biomaterials in vitro and in vivo.

Research Focus

  1. Modulation of inflammatory reactions by stem cells, in particular by mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC)
  2. Delivery of immunological methods and biomarkers for regenerative therapies

  • Biomarker studies in phase I/II-studies with MSC
  • PoC in rat-model (marginal organs)
  • Mechanisms of immunological MSC-effects
  • Immunology of EPC
  • Immunogenicity of spinal disc cells
  • Interaction Immune system and Biomaterials
  • Biomarker-Portfolio for different approaches
