Prof. Dr. Albrecht Wendel

Albrecht Wendel is one of Germany's leading pharma researchers. He has led the Interfaculty Center for Pharmacogenomics and Pharma Research at the University of Tübingen since its foundation in 2009. The center is a hub of translational research where chemists, biologists and clinicians work and research together under one roof. In close collaboration, the center's investigators are working to develop novel therapies and new drugs. In 2011 Albrecht Wendel's drug testing method "PyroDetect" was a prize winner in the "365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas" competition. Albrecht Wendel has also made significant contributions to the field of graduate training. He wants to pass on his own experience of an interdisciplinary education (science and industry) to the next generation of scientists.
